Financial analyst and master's degree holder in crypto assets, Javier Espasa Peribáñez, published the book Cryptocurrencies and Blockchains Revealed, a text that, in his own words, has the sole objective of serving as an initial support for those interested in learning about the world of decentralized technology and cryptocurrencies for the first time.

The author defines it as a basic manual written without technical jargon. He states that he sought to write it with in mind the text he would have liked to read when he first began to explore this ecosystem.

"I wrote it with the book I would have liked to find when I started doing my first research on cryptocurrencies in 2021," he said. He added that the literature he found at the time "was very technical, with unclear language and focused almost entirely on Bitcoin and a little bit on Ethereum and the software on which this technology is based."

The 293-page book is presented as an educational tool for those who want to understand what Bitcoin represents in the economic landscape, how cryptocurrencies that enable applications work, and what possibilities blockchain offers as infrastructure.

Espasa insists that it is not a technical work, but rather a manual for beginners. "My aim was to provide someone who has never heard anything about this ecosystem with a basic map to help them find their way around," he notes.

He also states that his aim has been to "create a general manual of the most important terms and concepts," thus avoiding "technical terminology and words," facilitating understanding among those who have never heard of this sector.

Who is Javier Espasa Peribáñez?

Javier Espasa Peribáñez is a Spanish financial analyst who worked for almost 40 years in the financial sector, always within one of Spain's leading banking groups

He held positions of responsibility in administrative, commercial, and business management areas. In 2020, he decided to leave his career in banking. Shortly after, he came into contact with the world of cryptocurrencies and their technology, which initially sparked his curiosity and later generated enormous interest.

Since then, he has continued to educate himself. He has read books, reports, and specialized articles, attends in-person and virtual events, and completed some of the first master's degrees offered on the subject in Spain. He is currently a permanent student and has been involved in the development of two projects related to cryptocurrencies and Web3.

For him, Bitcoin is "the only known alternative to date for attempting to resolve the bankruptcy situation in which the global economic system finds itself."

Remember that the traditional economy operates under an inflationary logic that "must generate debt and more debt to pay the interest on existing debt."

In contrast, he argues that Bitcoin offers "a decentralized digital currency that is not dependent on banks or institutions, is deflationary and transparent, and is not managed by intermediaries who can control its transactions."

Javier Espasa wrote the book he would have liked to read when he first started out in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

When referring to cryptocurrencies in general, Espasa highlights the role they play in the evolution of the Internet. "While Bitcoin is a store of value, digital gold, following the emergence of Ethereum and its EVM, which allowed decentralized applications to be built, other cryptocurrencies appeared that were intended to take a step further within the Internet: Web3."

With Cryptocurrencies and Blockchains Uncovered, the analyst attempts to open a door to a field that is often perceived as complex. The text, he says, is an initial accompaniment that will allow readers to take the first step and then delve deeper with other specialized materials.
